The use of photovoltaics (PV) is growing rapidly, but how much capacity is installed? EarthPV is prototyping open source PV mapping. EarthPV combines free Sentinel-2 imagery, an open geospatial foundation model (Terramind), OpenStreetMap, open buildings datasets, and human mappers to locate rooftop and ground-mounted solar above 10kWp.
