Inviting all people of India to attend the OSM India Monthly Online Mapathon!

This is the perfect opportunity...
- for newbies to learn about OSM, how to use it to replace Google Maps, and to learn remote mapping of roads and buildings from satellite imagery;
- for intermediate mappers to learn JOSM, public transport routes, and other advanced topics;
- for advanced mappers to work together and make a bigger impact.
- for everyone to hang out with OSM community members 🙂

🕙 Time: 18:00-20:00 hours for newbies; 19:30-21:00 hours for returning participants
📌 Location: online, using Jitsi Meet
💻 Please join with a laptop and a decent connection to get the most out of this event!

How do I join?

Just click the "Attend" button. You will be asked to login with your OpenStreetMap account - create one if you don't have one already. (Avoid using your real name/nickname as your OSM display name.)

The meeting link will be sent to your email roughly one hour before we start.

You should ideally also join the OSM India Jabber/XMPP channel (see below), but it's not required.

What will we be doing?

For first-timers
- 18:00-19:30 hours: Introductions, and learning session. You'll learn a simple app (CoMaps) to use OSM, and a simple editor (iD) to add buildings, roads, etc to OSM.
- 19:30-20:00 hours: Tackle the mapping challenge of the day with others. (You can stay on until 21:00 hours, if you like.)

For returning participants
- 19:30-20:00 hours - Introductions, and (optional) learning session. You can choose to learn advanced tools and topics, or proceed straight to the mapping challenge of the day.
- 20:00-21:00 hours - Tackle the mapping challenge of the day with others.
