Koyambedu Wholesale Market is one of South Asia's largest perishable goods markets, serving millions of people every single day. But on OpenStreetMap, it's barely there. Missing roads, unnamed lanes, unmapped stalls, and thousands of shops that simply don't exist on any map.
And we'd love to change that.
Details:
We meet at 6 AM at Geetham Hotel, Koyambedu and have a short intro session on what is OSM, what are we mapping today, and how to do it on your phone.
Then we split into small teams and fan out into the market. Roads, gates, market sheds, vendor stalls, dhabas, toilets, Tamil name tags. Finally we regroup, share what we found, and celebrate over refreshments.
