What's a mapping party?

A mapping party is an opportunity for everyone to learn about OpenStreetMap, why it is important, some simple ways of using it, and how to help improve OpenStreetMap data for the benefit of all.

It's also an opportunity for experienced OSM contributors to learn new apps, workflows, and how to contribute to related projects like Panoramax, Mangrove Reviews, and Wikimedia Commons.

All participants will meet at a cafe over drinks, and have a 60-minute learning session. Then, we will split up into teams and work together to improve the OSM data for a nearby market. Finally, we'll all regroup, conclude, and get some refreshments.

How do I join?

  1. Click the "Attend" button. You will need to create an OpenStreetMap account, if you don't have one already. Please avoid using your real name as your display name.

  2. Register with OSM Delhi by filling out our Cryptpad form, or give us a call at +91-98992-37909. (If you filled that form for a past OSM Delhi event, you don't need to do it again!)

(Please follow BOTH steps.)

Getting from Delhi to Meerut

You have a few options -

  1. Take the RRTS/RapidX from New Ashok Nagar or Anand Vihar to Begumpul. It should take around 1 hour and cost between ₹150 to ₹200.

  2. Take a bus from Kashmere Gate ISBT (costs around ₹155) or Kaushambi Bus Stand, Anand Vihar (costs around ₹100) to Bhainsali Bus Stand. It should take around 2 hours.

  3. The absolute cheapest option is to get an unreserved railway ticket. For example -

    • The 20411 Delhi-Saharanpur Superfast MEMU takes you from Delhi Junction (Old Delhi) to Meerut City in 1 hour 16 minutes for just ₹55. Suburban/local/EMU/MEMU trains like these usually run quite empty in the Delhi-NCR region, due to their low service.
    • The 19325 Indore Amritsar Express takes you from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Meerut City in 1 hour 24 minutes for just ₹45.

See other trains from Delhi Junction, trains from New Delhi, trains from Anand Vihar Terminal, trains from Ghaziabad, trains from Gurgaon...

Once you're in Meerut, you should be able to get a shared or private auto to Garh Road.
