MapYourGrid webinar: Data quality in OpenStreetMap for energy system planning

Online

8th January 2026 17:00 – 19:00 (Europe/Paris)

After one year of activity, MapYourGrid team will held an online webinar on January 8th 2026, 5pm CET. It will focus on the impact of data quality for power systems modelling and particularly about OpenStreetMap data used in this process.

We plan to show how we assess and monitor the data quality, consistency and completeness with several tools, particularly Osmose QA and how mappers can improve several tags with that knowledge in mind. Some of these tools has been part of our State of the Map Europe workshop in Dundee and have yet improved since. Contributing to extend the existing OpenStreetMap software prior to create more particular logic is at the core of our strategy.

Completing this data is useful for open source tools designed for power systems modelling. We will welcome PyPSA-meets-Earth community members to explain how the outcome of simulations improves along the input data.

Finally and related to the proposal submitted to RFC recently, we will also welcome maintainers of PowerPlantMatching tool to get insights about several power generation data repositories matching, with OpenStreetMap and Wikidata help as well.

The webinar is free to attend and talks will be in English.
