How do I learn about future OSM events in India?
Glad you asked! We have a few different options.
Calendar/RSS/Atom feeds
We recommend bookmarking the OSM Calendar page for India, which shows you all upcoming events in a simple way.
You can also subscribe to the OSM Calendar using calendar or RSS/Atom feeds.
Mastodon (Fediverse)
You can check out photos of past OSM India events on the OSM India Mastodon page. You can also follow it to get notified of upcoming events.
Mastodon is a microblogging platform - it's like Twitter, but community-owned, ad-free, algorithm-free, trustworthy libre software, and has much nicer users. It's also federated and part of the Fediverse , which means it doesn't lock you in to one app or service.
Jabber/XMPP
People in the OpenStreetMap India Jabber/XMPP channel are the first to know about future events. It's also a great place to meet other OpenStreetMap contributors, ask questions, and exchange knowledge.
To join, install Quicksy (Play Store/App Store/F-Droid) or Prāv (Play Store/F-Droid), then open this link on your phone - osm-in@conference.a3.pm
Jabber/XMPP is like WhatsApp or Telegram, but it's privacy-respecting, trustworthy libre software, ad-free, and "AI"-free. It's also federated, which means it doesn't lock you in to one app or service.
