OpenStreetMap Mapathon @ TML

On Wednesday 7 May 2025 (18:00-21:00) we are organising an OpenStreetMap (OSM) Mapathon at TML! One or more experienced OSM volunteers will be on site to explain. The main theme of the evening is cycling infrastructure.

After a general introduction about OSM, you will learn how to enter data yourself using handy tools. Data extraction will also be covered. We delve deeper into:

• The interpretation of OSM concepts around cycling infrastructure,
• Editing tools (ID, JOSM)
• Data quality and tools to improve data like Mappilary, detecting inconsistencies, and using automatic recognition algorithms for mapping infrastructure.
• Focus on areas with recent Mapillary footage (urban area, ex. Ghent and peri-urban, ex. Boechout/Mortsel)
