It has been over 9 years since the last one (https://vtluug.org/wiki/OpenStreetMap#May_6th.2C_2015) so I figure it is time for another one.
Date & Time: Sep 3rd, 7 PM Location: Iron Tree in Christiansburg
The goal of these meetups is to update the local area with any new changes that might not be on the map. This can be anything such as adding a phone number or hours to an existing business, adding or removing a business, adding new trails, or even adding completely new neighborhoods.
If you are completely new to openstreetmap, you can get started editing by going to https://www.openstreetmap.org/ and making an account, then clicking "Edit" at the top. The interface is very user friendly especially if you are doing smaller changes such as updating local businesses.
Iron Tree has wifi, but you can still do quite a bit of editing with a cell phone: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Editors#Mobile.
