We verwelkomen iedereen die geïnteresseerd is in kaarten voor een drankje, een hapje en een paar talks over … kaarten uiteraard.
Op de Event Website vind je meer informatie en kan je je registeren. Gelieve je ten laatste op 4 september voor 17:00 in te schrijven, zodat we weten hoeveel aanwezigen we mogen ontvangen.

Join us for the first face-to-face Maptime Amsterdam meet-up since 2019! We will treat you to drinks, snacks and various talks about mapmaking. Please register by September 4th at 17:00.
We will start the first presentation at 17:30.
Maptime is, rather literally, time for mapmaking. Our mission is to open the doors of cartographic possibility to anyone interested by creating a time and space for collaborative learning, exploration, and map creation using mapping tools and technologies.
This get-together will be hosted by

- Salim Baidoun, Global Community and Partnerships Manager at TomTom, and Member of the Engineering Working Group (EWG) at the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

Meet-up program
- Stéphane De Greef - Mapping a city with street-level imagery
Stéphane will share how to “street-view” extensive urban areas with an off-the-shelf 360° camera, a smartphone and a bicycle, to enhance open knowledge and participatory mapping. His talk will be a pragmatic field guide describing the gear, planning process and field work.
Stéphane is a 46-year-old Belgian environmental engineer who worked all over the world for more than 20 years on a wide range of data, mapping and research projects, from the minefields of Cambodia to the jungles of Panama, the Himalayas and the Sahara Desert. He’s an OSM Belgium member and contributor, very active in cycling advocacy in Brussels, and, surprisingly enough, currently unemployed but looking into capitalising on his latest project imaging the whole region of Brussels and seeing how this could be used in a humanitarian context.

- Salim Baidoun and Marjan Van de Kauter - TomTom and OpenStreetMap
Salim and Marjan will take you through TomTom’s OSM editing and engagement program, showing you how TomTom contributes to OpenStreetMap and collaborates with individual mappers, communities, corporate partners, special interest groups and other organizations to help build an accurate and up-to-date map.
Salim is an industrial and mechanical engineer who has been with TomTom since 2019. He is part of the Community and Partnerships team and operates from the Amsterdam headquarters. His sphere of activity spans across Europe, North and South America, and the Asia Pacific region. Drawing from his expertise in various facets of engineering and engagement, he is particularly interested in exploring the novel concepts and developments within the OpenStreetMap community. His involvement extends further as a member of the Engineering Working Group within the OSM Foundation. He has conducted a variety of surveying and field work employing mobile mapping technology, handheld devices, and total stations across regions including Europe, North America, Africa and the Middle East.

Marjan Van de Kauter is a Belgium-based communications expert working for TomTom since 2018. She is currently a community engager on TomTom’s OpenStreetMap team, interacting and collaborating with OSM communities across Europe. Because of her experience in linguistics, language technology and multiple areas of the communications field, she has a special interest in researching the OpenStreetMap community’s diverse communication landscape. She is also a member of the OSM Foundation’s Communication Working Group.

Shravan has co-organized Maptime events in India (see this article and this presentation) and Amsterdam (see this article), encouraging people to use Mapillary and improve OSM. He has also helped with improving mapping tehniques and methods at the Netherlands Red Cross.
