DESCRIPTION:The 9th OpenStreetMap Delhi mapping meetup is here! Explore yo
ur city\, learn to contribute to OSM\, improve a common resource together\
, reclaim your digital privacy\, and meet new people. You don't need any e
xperience with OSM or maps to participate\, so bring all your friends!\n\n
Unlike most of our meetups where we go outdoors to survey on foot\, this o
ne will be held in air-conditioned offices and will focus on remote mappin
g (AKA armchair mapping) - so **a laptop and a mouse are essential.**\n\nT
o allow more people to attend\, there are two sessions - one on Saturday a
nd one on Sunday. We encourage everyone to attend on both days\, but you c
 an choose to attend any one session\, too.\n\nSession 1 \n🗓️ Date -
 Saturday\, 15th of June \n🕙 Time - 11 AM to 1 PM \n🗺️ Location -
[Software Freedom Law Center (India)](https://sflc.in/)\, Jangpura\n\n[Se
 ssion 2](https://osmcal.org/event/2920/) \n🗓️ Date - Sunday\, 16th o
 f June \n🕙 Time - 4 to 6 PM \n🗺️ Location - [Internet Freedom Fo
 undation](https://internetfreedom.in/)\, Chittaranjan Park\n\n## What is O
penStreetMap?\n\nOpenStreetMap is a map of the world made by people like y
ou\, which anybody can use\, share\, and edit. You can think of it as the
Wikipedia of maps.\n\nIt is used by numerous websites\, organizations\, co
 mpanies (e.g. Wikipedia\, Ola Maps\, redBus\, Doctors Without Borders\, Po
 kemon Go\, Zomato\, Uber\, Amazon)\, and FOSS applications (e.g. Organic M
aps and OsmAnd).\n\nContributing to OpenStreetMap is fun. You get to explo
re the world\, find interesting places\, and document them for yourself an
d others. You improve a public resource which helps everyone and is not co
ntrolled by any one company.\n\n## What will we be doing?\n\n1. Meet and g
reet \n2. Introduction to OSM \n3. Using OSM \n4. Learning to edit OSM
\n 1. adding and editing points \n 2. adding and editing lines \n
  3. adding and editing areas\n\n## Who are you?\n\nWe are passionate and e
xperienced OpenStreetMap contributors who improve it for fun in our free t
ime. Many of us are also advocates for [free software](https://en.wikipedi
a.org/wiki/Free_software) and privacy.\n\n## Useful equipment to bring alo
 ng\n\n * a laptop and a mouse\n * a charging cable\n\n## How do I join?\n\
nParticipants should write to us [over email](mailto:contrapunctus@disroot
.org) or [over XMPP](https://xmpp.link/#contrapunctus@jabjab.de) with -\n\
 n * their name\n * their phone number [1]\, and\n * which session(s) they
will be attending\n\nPast participants can omit the name and phone number.
\n\n[1] We use phone numbers strictly for event coordination and for invit
ing you to future events. You can omit the phone number\, but you risk not
getting information in time.\n\n## Preparatory activity (optional)\n\nFor
a richer learning experience\, you can take geotagged photos of shops\, a
 menities\, buildings\, roads\, signs\, etc and save them to your laptop. W
e will guide you through the process of using these photos to add data to
OSM.\n\nWhile almost any camera app can take geotagged photos\, we recomme
nd using OpenCamera on Android ([Play Store](https://play.google.com/store
 /apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera)\, [F-Droid](https://f-droid.o
 rg/packages/net.sourceforge.opencamera/)).\n\nOnce installed\, launch Open
Camera and go into Settings - Location settings\, and enable "Store locati
on data (geotagging)"\, "Store compass direction"\, and "Store yaw\, pitch
\, and roll". You'll need to give OpenCamera access to location/GPS.
